In February 2017, the Foundation for Veterinary Aid International returned to the continent of Africa. A new dream destination: Tanzania! Four veterinarians from Quebec, a retired nurse, as well as a wonderful team of Tanzanian volunteers sterilized 151 dogs and 4 cats in the shadow of the highest peak in Africa, Kilimanjaro. The experience was extraordinary! The end of the trip in Tanzania was highlighted by an unforgettable safari in Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro crater National Parks.
Our local partner Mbwa Wa Africa Animal Rescue is tirelessly working to change mentalities concerning animal welfare, as well as regularly vaccinating against rabies in order to reduce the number of human victims of this terrible disease. They are also educating owners to the benefits of sterilization. The Foundation for Veterinary Aid International will continue to wholeheartedly support them in their mission and will be returning to Tanzania in the near future.
