Rwanda February 2026

Date du projet : February 14th-March 4th
Localisation : Africa
Population : 15000000
Langues parlées : Kinyarwanda, French, English, Swahili
Partenaire local : WAG Rwanda

FAVI will be returning to Rwanda in February 2026, in collaboration with our valued partners and friends, the “Waggies” of WAG Rwanda.

During the first week, our team will once again visit the village of Rwinkwavu to conduct a sterilization and care clinic, continuing the work begun during our last visit.

Five days of free activities will follow this first week. During our previous project, we had the chance to go on a trek in Nyungwe National Park, known for its chimpanzees—an absolutely memorable experience. However, our real highlight was meeting the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park: a deeply moving moment that left a lasting impression on the whole team. Some participants have even chosen to relive this unique experience.

The project will then continue in Kibungo, where we will hold a second sterilization and rabies vaccination clinic. This intervention is of critical urgency, as a human death related to rabies has unfortunately occurred recently in this community. Acting quickly is essential to protect both animals and local populations.

This project is for people who want to get involved in an international veterinary mission while enjoying an exceptional human and cultural experience.

Discovering Rwanda: the land of a thousand hills

Located in the heart of East Africa, Rwanda is nicknamed the “Land of a Thousand Hills” for its breathtaking hilly landscapes. Despite a history marked by major challenges, the country is today a model of resilience, sustainable development and nature conservation.

Exceptional nature and biodiversity

Rwanda is world-famous for its spectacular national parks. Volcanoes National Park is home to the famous mountain gorillas, offering a unique trekking experience through dense forests. Nyungwe National Park, one of Africa’s oldest forests, is a sanctuary for primates, including chimpanzees and colobus monkeys. Akagera National Park is a savannah ecosystem where the “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhinoceros) can be observed.

Commitment to the environment

Rwanda also stands out for its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The country banned plastic bags in 2008 and is pursuing innovative ecological initiatives, becoming a model of conservation on the African continent.
