Baja California Sur, Mexico, February 2019
In February 2019, the Foundation for Veterinary Aid International (FVAI) returned to Baja California, Mexico. This time they went to a brand new destination: the magnificent village of Loreto. Our adventurous team of fourteen volunteers went to this charming little community situated more than 350 km from La Paz in order to offer free veterinary care to their animals.
Life sometimes brings where you need to be; in Loreto we had a chance to meet the indomitable Lucy, an extraordinary woman who has been operating the shelter known as Animalandia for several years now. A real gem! We sterilized 84 animals in 2 days, not bad for such a whirlwind visit!
Upon arriving at Animalandia, we knew we would be returning to Loreto. The welcome, the place and the generosity of the volunteers completely seduced us. Lucy warmly accepted our offer to return to Loreto twice a year to help her continue her mission. You should of seen the joy on all of our faces!
We ended our trip to Baja California with an excursion to the Island of Espiritu Santo. On the agenda: sea kayaking, snorkelling, hiking, swimming with sea lions and camping under the stars.
We are already excited to return! Once again an extraordinary FVAI project! Join our team of volunteers, you won’t regret it!
